LAN's are across street from each other. Do I just need a single backbone line to connect them both or can I use a VPN and not need to run a dedicated line from one place to the other ugh I'm confused...

Answer by FaithaxiomIf business related, and bandwidth is a major factor; I would consider having Fiber installed between locations OR utilizing your Telco or Cable provider's MAN (Metro) infrastructure to 'tie' the the two locations together.

Because of close proximity, I would imagine a T1 would
be cost prohibitive when compared to alternatives...

Alternatives: Low Bandwidth needed - USE VPN
High Bandwidth needed - Wireless (many options)
