Are the William sisters not taking on a lot when they play singles and doubles in the same tournament?

Question by man_mus_wack1: Are the William sisters not taking on a lot when they play singles and doubles in the same tournament?
Especially when the rest of the field in the singles game have only the singles game to worry about. Given that they are no longer teenagers is there any wonder why Serena could not move well in her quarterfinal game against Jelena Jankovic?

Best answer:
Answer by Michael NDoubles is not as physically taxing as singles because you only have to play half the court, so I don't think it hurt the Williams's singles chances. And by the way, Jankovic is playing in the doubles too, so Serena can't use that as an excuse, and also Jankovic was already coming into the Australian Open with an injured hamstring. If anything, Serena should have been the fresher of the two players.

What do you think? Answer
