Q&A: Christians : Is the singles group at your church actually a support ministry?

Question by ~ The one whom Jesus loved ~: Christians : Is the singles group at your church actually a support ministry?
I just joined a church, and it seems that the singles here are grouped in the same category as those who need to be reached out to... eg. the divorced, the sick, the elderly, the recovering addicts, etc.......

Why do married church people view singleness as a disease that needs to be prayed away?.....is it like this at your churches too?

Answer by bobmalcombYou said a mouthful. Most churches are set up for families and their kids. they have no idea what to do with singles. They often view it as a temporary state you will "get over"

But a singles group can be a powerful force. I have heard of groups built around mission trips. If they took the focus off of "getting over that temporary state of singleness" and focused on helping others it woudl be better.

For many singles every Sunday is a reminder of what they don't have, a family... and
