I know they were very useful in record player days, but now that you can download single songs on the internet, what purpose do they serve in modern times?

Answer by hgWhen an artist releases a single it is just the song that they are going to put out there to the radio stations. I think that is really the only purpose they serve now. Previously I think it was the radio thing plus a way for people to purchase that one song without buying the whole album.
