Question by Galarraga: What is the resistance of a single light?
A string of 23 identical Christmas tree lights are connected in series to a 120 V source. The string dissipates 77 W.
What is the resistance of a single light?
Best answer:
Answer by lavalamp3773Find the resistance for all the lights:
P = V^2 / R
77 = 120^2 / R
R = 14400 / 77
R = 187 ohms
So a single light has resistance:
R_single = 187 / 23 = 8.13 ohms
